Supporting Mental Health:
Our Role During Mental Health Awareness Week (May 12–18)

Introduction
Mental Health Awareness Week, running from May 12th to 18th, is a vital time to spotlight the importance of mental wellbeing and reduce the stigma that still surrounds mental health issues. At Doorstep Pharmacy, we recognize the essential role that pharmacies play—not only in managing physical health, but also in supporting mental wellness.

Why Mental Health Matters
One in four people will experience a mental health problem each year. Anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Yet many still suffer in silence due to stigma or a lack of accessible support.

This year’s theme —Movement: Moving More for Our Mental Health”encourages us to recognize the connection between physical activity and emotional wellbeing. Even small steps, like a walk around the block or light stretching, can make a big difference.

How Your Local Pharmacy Can Help
Pharmacies are often the most accessible healthcare settings in a community. Here at Doorstep Pharmacy, we’re here to help with:

  • Private consultations: Our pharmacists are trained to listen without judgment and can guide you to resources or your GP.
  • Medication support: If you’re managing anxiety, depression, or another condition with medication, we can help you understand how your prescriptions work and what to expect.
  • Wellbeing products: From vitamins that support nervous system function to natural remedies for sleep, we stock a range of products to support mental wellness.
  • Signposting and referrals: We can connect you with local counseling services, crisis helplines, and community support groups.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Start a conversation: Check in on a friend or family member.
  • Take a mindful walk: Move with purpose and notice how your mood shifts.
  • Share resources: Post about Mental Health Awareness Week on social media to spread awareness.

Final Thoughts
Mental health is just as important as physical health. During this Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage you to take a moment for yourself or support someone else. Whether you’re looking for advice, a listening ear, or helpful resources, Doorstep Pharmacy is here for you.
