Repeat Prescriptions

If you take medicine regularly you will usually be on a repeat prescription — which means you can reorder it when you need it, without seeing your GP every time. The part we take care of is everything after that: your surgery approves it, it comes to us electronically, we dispense it and deliver it to your door. Free, anywhere in England.

How to order

The simplest route is to order through us. You can do that online, or through the Doorstep Pharmacy app. We send the request to your GP surgery, they approve it, and the prescription comes straight to us.

You can also order directly from your surgery — through your NHS account, the NHS App, or by contacting them — as long as we are set as your nominated pharmacy.

Nominating us

Nomination is what tells the NHS where to send your prescriptions electronically. You can set it in the NHS App, ask your surgery to do it, or ask us. Once we are nominated, every prescription your GP issues comes to us automatically — nothing to collect, nothing to post.

Repeat dispensing

If your medicines are stable, your GP can authorise a batch of prescriptions — up to twelve months at a time — which are released to us at set intervals. You then do not need to reorder at all; each supply is prepared and delivered when it falls due. Ask your GP or us about setting this up.

Good to know

• Allow a few working days between ordering and delivery, and a little longer for a first order while your surgery sets things up.
• Check your delivery when it arrives. If anything is missing or you no longer need an item, tell us.
• If you run out and cannot wait for a delivery, see our emergency supply service, or contact NHS 111.
