NHS and private prescriptions dispensed by our pharmacy team and delivered to you.
The Electronic Prescription Service is how NHS prescriptions move now: your GP signs it on screen and it is sent securely to your chosen pharmacy. No paper, nothing to collect from the surgery, and nothing to hand over. For a distance selling pharmacy like us it is the whole basis of the service — we receive your prescription electronically, dispense it, and deliver it.
What it means for you
- No trip to the surgery to pick up a prescription.
- No trip to a pharmacy to hand it in or collect it.
- Your medicines are prepared as soon as the prescription reaches us, then delivered to your door free of charge.
- It works anywhere in England — you do not need to live near us.
Setting it up
You need to nominate Doorstep Pharmacy as your pharmacy. That is a one-time step: do it in the NHS App, ask your GP surgery, or ask us and we will arrange it. From then on, every prescription your GP issues comes to us automatically.
Nomination is not a contract — you can change it at any time.
Is it secure?
Yes. An electronic prescription is seen only by the same people who would see a paper one: your GP practice, the pharmacy, and the NHS bodies that handle prescription payment. It is more secure than paper, because it cannot be lost or altered on the way.
Prescription charges
The standard NHS prescription charge still applies per item unless you are exempt. Delivery is free regardless.
