Weight Loss
A pharmacist-led weight loss programme: assessment, prescription treatment where it is right for you, delivery to your door, and a review every four weeks.
- Pharmacist-led assessment and reviews
- Delivered all over the UK, temperature-controlled
- Video or in person in Harrow
Three steps, then we stay with you
Medicated weight loss works best — and most safely — with a clinician alongside you. That is the whole design of the programme.
Consultation
A pharmacist goes through your health, history, lifestyle and goals, checks you are eligible, and explains the options — by video, or in person at the pharmacy in Harrow.
Treatment, delivered
If treatment is right for you, it is prescribed, dispensed by us and delivered to your door with clear instructions on how to use it.
Reviews every four weeks
A check-in with the pharmacist: how you are feeling, what the scales say, whether the dose should change. Your next supply is approved at each review.
Check in ten seconds
Weight-loss treatment is prescribed to adults on the basis of body mass index and health. You may be eligible if you are 18 or over and have:
- a BMI of 30 or above, or
- a BMI of 27 or above with a weight-related condition — high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, sleep apnoea or heart disease.
Lower thresholds apply for people of South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean background, for whom health risks rise at a lower BMI. The pharmacist confirms eligibility at your consultation.
A programme, not a parcel
The same clinician assesses you, reviews you and answers your questions between reviews.
Treatment is started low and stepped up over the first months. We decide each step with you, based on how you are doing.
Every supply is dispensed by us and delivered to your door — temperature-controlled where the treatment needs it.
Practical help with appetite, eating well on a smaller appetite, protein, activity and side effects. Treatment works far better with it.
About the programme
Losing weight is hard, and for many people diet and exercise alone do not get there — not for want of trying. Medicated weight loss has changed what is possible: the current prescription treatments help people lose a significant proportion of their starting weight by reducing appetite and helping you feel full sooner. They are not a shortcut. They work best, and most safely, as part of a programme with a clinician who assesses you properly, manages the dose, and stays with you. That is what we offer.
Everything is led by a pharmacist with prescribing training. Your first consultation can be by video or in person at the pharmacy in Harrow; every review after that fits around you. Treatment is dispensed by us and delivered to your door.
Questions people ask
Which treatments do you offer?
The current prescription weight-loss treatments — weekly and daily options — plus support with diet and activity. Which one is right for you depends on your health, your history and your preferences, and the pharmacist will go through the options at your consultation rather than here. You will always know exactly what you are being prescribed, and why, before you commit.
How much weight will I lose?
It varies from person to person and depends on the treatment, the dose you reach and the changes you make alongside it. The pharmacist will talk you through what the evidence shows for each option, and set realistic expectations with you. Most people notice their appetite change within the first few weeks.
What happens at the first consultation?
Around twenty to thirty minutes. The pharmacist takes your height, weight and history, asks about other medicines and conditions, and explains the options. If treatment is appropriate, it is prescribed there and then. If it is not — some conditions and medicines rule it out — we will tell you honestly, and suggest what might help instead.
Do I have to come to the pharmacy?
No. The consultation and every review can be done by secure video call, and treatment is delivered. You are welcome in person at Harrow if you prefer — some people like to be shown how to use their treatment the first time.
What are the side effects?
The most common are nausea, constipation or diarrhoea, and tiredness, particularly in the first weeks and after each dose increase. Most settle, and the pharmacist will tell you how to manage them — smaller meals, more water, when to take it. Serious side effects are rare, but this is exactly why reviews are built in.
Can I switch to you from another provider?
Yes. Bring details of what you are currently taking and the dose you are on, and the pharmacist will continue your programme without starting you over — provided it is safe to do so.
What happens when I stop?
Appetite tends to return, and without a plan some of the weight comes back. We plan for coming off treatment from the start: stepping down gradually, and putting the habits in place that keep the weight off. It is a phase of the programme, not the end of it.
Is it safe?
These are prescription medicines, licensed in the UK and supplied only after a clinical assessment. They are not suitable for everyone — in pregnancy, with certain conditions, or alongside some other medicines — which is why the assessment comes first and reviews follow. We are a registered pharmacy and the pharmacist who prescribes is accountable for your care.
