Now that the clocks have gone forward, the daffodils are flourishing and Easter is fast approaching, the joys of spring are certainly here. And that means many people will be getting outside more.
While there will be many adventurous folk who will still have been spending the last few months out jogging or playing sport, walking the hills or heading for the ski slopes, others will have been spending rather more time warm indoors in their slippers than outside in their trainers or walking boots.
However, lots of exercise outside means you may be wise to buy some foot care products online to ensure you don’t end up with very sore or unhealthy feet.
For example, as the weather warms up your feet will sweat more, especially if they are in tight new running shoes you have only just bought. This can lead to Athlete’s Foot, a fungal infection that can lead to inflammation, dryness, itching and blisters. Antifungal creams and ointments can go a long way to preventing it or a least lessening the symptoms.
Many people will plan lots of walking as the days get longer and warmer. This could include longer day hikes or even multi-day challenges such as National Trails. In the latter case, spring often marks the start of the season; for example, the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail season lasts from May to October, with people asked not to walk it at other times of the year to protect the fragile landscape.
Lots of long walks can be very good for your health, but your feet may suffer. You should have plasters for blisters, nail scissors to keep them in trim and consider insoles if you have fairly or very flat feet to stop them getting sore.
Spring and summer should be great times to get outdoors and active. By equipping yourself with the right treatments to look after your feet, you can ensure you only have to put them up when you become tired after a long day of vigorous exercise.
