There are many medical supplies that can be convenient to have delivered to your door, often to help you manage a busy schedule. But foot treatment products can also be particularly welcome when delivered this way, as it may save you a painful hobble to fetch them yourself.
Foot problems can come in many forms. You may have a long-term, persistent issue like an ingrown toenail, verrucas, athlete’s foot or simply an injury, such as something sustained playing sport. These kinds of problems can make you rather glad not to have to spend much time on your feet.
However, while some people may be entering the summer with an existing foot issue, it is also worth considering that there may be many more issues arising over the coming months due to people spending more time on their feet getting out and about.
For example, sporty types might spend hours with their tennis shoes or cricket boots on, which may or may not bring success with bat, ball or racket, but could lead to sweaty feet developing blisters, fungal infections and other problems. Problems like athlete’s foot are very common, with around seven out of ten people suffering this at some point in their lives.
Summer is also an optimal time for getting out into the great outdoors. With warm weather and long daylight hours, it is a great time to be hiking in the mountains of the Lake District, Wales or the Scottish Highlands. Alternatively, you could be taking on a long-distance walk like the Hadrian’s Wall Path, West Highland Way or Offa’s Dyke.
All these activities can provide great achievements in terms of routes completed, mountain summits conquered and beautiful places explored. But walking miles every day in heavy boots over what can often be rough terrain will not just mean sweaty feet. It can also bring blisters, calluses and general soreness.
For that reason, sometimes you will find the first thing you need when you get home is to put your sore feet up and give them a bit of TLC. The next thing will be to get some treatment for them to ease the pain, protect against infection and further injury and enable your feet to recover as quickly as possible.
Some people are more prone than others to having foot problems. For instance, those with flat feet are prone to all manner of issues including bunions and plantar fasciitis, a condition in which ligaments on the soles of the foot can become inflamed.
Another issue can be diabetes. While this has all sorts of medical consequences, it can affect your feet because lower levels of blood sugar will reduce feeling, and less blood flow in general will make it harder for cuts and sores to heal. You can also be more prone to getting hard, cracked skin.
The summer months may be challenging ones for your feet, but with the right treatment, you can soon get them back in good condition after putting them through some gruelling experiences.
